Piazza Luini will play host to another great artist from Italy’s rap scene: Salmo will be making a lakeside stop in Lugano as part of his “Summer Tour” featuring in what promises to be an outstanding new summer event for Lugano.
Salmo was born as Maurizio Pisciottu in 1984 and began putting together rhymes at a tender age; in 2011 he released his debut album The Island Chainsaw Massacre which drew national attention. A year later his second album Death USB came out; that same year he won the MTV Hip Hop Award in the category Best Crossover. In 2013 his album Midnite topped the Italian charts as number one and turned gold. Known for his versatility, Salmo has worked with Jovanotti for whom he directed the video clip Sabato and for whom he opened concerts on his 2015 Tour. In 2017 he also tried his hand as an actor appearing in the short film Nuraghes S’arena by Mauro Aragoni.
Eclectic, offbeat and provocative, Salmo was the first rap-crossover rock artist to perform at the San Siro Stadium in front of fifty thousand fans and as of today he has chalked up over 2.9 billion streams, 67 platinum discs and 41 gold discs. His latest record FLOP was certified triple platinum and has accumulated more than 250 million streams.
